OSTROJ to supply conveyor system for Model Obaly. Used virtual reality for prototyping

31. 5. 2024

OSTROJ has won a major contract to supply a comprehensive conveyor system for the automation of production at Model Obaly a.s. Using a simulation program and virtual reality, OSTROJ has designed a solution that helps to eliminate temporary overloads between the production and packaging sections of the line in order to ensure the smooth running of the entire production process. The order, which will be completed in record time, is worth almost 1 million euros.

The conveyor system will be installed in the production plant in Moravské Budějovice, where it will increase production capacity and eliminate downtime during material transport. The system will enable effective buffering, i.e. temporary storage of products in special storage areas, which will significantly increase the efficiency of the packaging line.

"Thanks to innovative elements such as cross-direction material transport and special belt padding to reduce friction, we will achieve high capacity and reduce energy consumption," said Adam Majewski, sales manager at OSTROJ. "The conveyor system is almost 250 meters long and has a transport speed of 62 pallets per hour. The total length of the belt is almost 1000 meters."

The system will include more than 130 storage spaces, two automatic trolleys, conveyors, turntables, transfer points and other elements. One of the main advantages is also the ability to transport oversized or atypical pallets. The system is designed in a modular way so that it can be expanded with additional parts, allowing it to be flexibly adapted to future customer requirements.

"From the signing of the contract to the handover will take seven months, so we are implementing the order in a very short time. The delivery includes not only production and testing, but also complete installation and commissioning of the system," said Martin Čmiel, director of the Mining and Industrial Technologies division at OSTROJ.

When implementing the project, OSTROJ's designers use modern technologies including virtual reality and 3D simulations to optimize designs, present them and consult with the customer. This allows them to fine-tune a number of details before the line itself is built.
